5.29.17 Memorial Weekend

Hey Everyone!                                                    5/29/17

This week was quite the adventure. One crazy roller coaster. Haha!

One of the fun things about a mission is its every emotion wrapped in one amazingly spiritual package that I wouldn’t trade for the world. I don't know if something was in the air or what but people weren't too happy this week. We got some good laughs. I think it really solidifies for me the phrase that says, " Kindness begins with me". There’s  a lot that happens in life that we don't have control over. The only thing we have control over is how we respond.

I was reminded of that when we knocked on a man’s door. The screen was locked so we gave it a nice loud knock. It turns out we weren't the first people this week to knock on his door that way and he was not to happy. We met him on the side of his home walking away. With his stern comments, we had a split second to decide how to respond.

Later, as we were talking, I told Sister Lovell that I have really felt amazingly blessed to have the Lord’s help in times like that. I instantly decide to not take what he said personally and just respond in an apologetic way. We felt so bad for startling him. As he realized that, his heart was soften and he begin to explain his story to us. He said he had recently had an accident and he had trouble walking, so getting to the door was rather hard. It was one of the best teaching opportunities I had this week by far. I truly know that "Kindness does begin with us." As we treat others with love the spirit will speak to their hearts and we all can come away uplifted!

I sure love you all and am so grateful for your love and support.

Your kindness has truly softened my heart.

Hey Everyone!

Happy Mother's Day! I am so grateful for my amazing Mom

mothers in my life. I will have to tell you more about this week
later but here are some pictures to highlight.

TONY GOT BAPTIZED!!!! Things were hard even to the last moment but he
made it. I know he was being prepared for this day. We met him when he
pulled up and asked us for a pamphlet and now look at where he is!

We got to talk with our family! I am so grateful for them all!

It rained a lot this week!

5.1.17 Hardest Thing I've Ever Had To Do

Well everyone, my time in the Potomac Mid-Singles Ward is coming to an end. Tomorrow I will be transferred to McClain, Va. I have all sorts of emotions but that's a mission for ya. Quite the roller coaster.

We finished off the transfer with a bang. Our friend Robin was baptized! She has been investigating off and on for over three years now. She is one amazing example and has such a powerful testimony. She said this has always felt like home for her. Even when she wasn't meeting with the missionaries she always felt drawn to them. She told us about a time she had gone on a mission trip with the church she was attending. They were talking to a person and she saw two elders walk by. She immediately wanted to grab them and have them come teach the person she was talking to. It has been a long journey but it has definitely been worth it. At the end of the program they had her look around at the full chapel of friends and loved ones. They said, "Wow this crowed of people would definitely be a great turn out in most wards." Ha-ha, she sure has so many people that love her. Many of them flew in from all across the country. She was so excited and her testimony was so powerful at the end.

Robin planned to have several nonmembers come to her baptism so for a week or two we had been arranging a little reception afterwards. The members were so incredible! We thought we only had a couple of people bringing treats but it turns out we had an amazing table full of treats!!  This ward has been such an amazing place to serve. I am definitely going to miss it so much. I know my new area will definitely be great as well. It's a lot smaller but it will be an adventure. The Potomac ward covers almost all of the stakes in the mission so it's definitely going to be a big downsize.

It has been so fun training Sister von Savoye. I would say we definitely have become good friends. The time really just flew by. She is such an incredible missionary. I have never seen anyone just dive right in like she has. It's amazing to see how quickly she really has wanted to learn everything. I am so grateful for this chance to serve with her. I know that each of my companions have truly made such a big impact in my life.

I want to close by leaving you all with my testimony. I do know that this gospel is true. What a blessing it is to have the chance to see so many amazing people change their lives and apply the Saviors Atonement more fully every day. It truly inspires me. I do know that Jesus Christ truly is our Savior and redeemer, our only way back to our Heavenly home. The mission has truly changed my perspective on making it back to our Heavenly Father. I am so grateful for the vail that helps us not remember the things before this life. For as much as I can miss home some days I can't imagine what it would be like if we could fully see our Heavenly home. There is no doubt we would all long to be there and do anything possible to get there. I know that as we follow the perfect example of the Savior we WILL make it back home. I am so grateful for that knowledge and grateful for all of you. I say these things in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen
